Quelques mots de vocabulaire utiles...

Afin de connaître un peu plus Laurence Wall, je vous propose de lire  sa biographie:

Laurence Wall is a radio news presenter with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in Ottawa, Canada.    He prepares 13 newscasts and news updates weekdays afternoons from 1200 to 1900.  He reads these newscasts on-air and also works the controls in the studio.   His broadcasts go out to tens of thousands of listeners in Eastern Ontario and West Quebec including the city of Ottawa, the capital of Canada.

Laurence has been working at the CBC since 1979 at different locations in Canada including Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Fredericton and Ottawa (since 1993).    When he started, there were no computers or internet available.   Sound editing was done with a razor blade (true!) and adhesive tape.  He's worked at several jobs at the CBC, including story producer, writer-broadcaster, reporter, senior editor and news presenter (since 1996).

Laurence studied journalism at Carleton University in Ottawa, graduating in 1976.   After graduation, he started work as a newspaper reporter in Winnipeg then moved to the CBC three years later.

Outside work, Laurence MC's (acts as master of ceremonies) at dozens of concerts and events each year for the Ottawa Chamber Music Festival, Music and Beyond Chamber Festival, the Ottawa Jazz Festival and the Ottawa Writers Festival.   He tries to encourage young people in music by MCing concerts by Ottawa musical ensembles such as Suzuki Ottawa, Stellae Boreales and Orkidstra.    Last week, he moderated an all-candidates meeting for a riding in Ottawa during the Canadian election campaign now underway (voting day is Oct. 21st).

Other activities and interests: Laurence lectured part-time at Carleton's School of Journalism for 10 years.   He plays cello in a string quartet.     He is a fan of the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League and the Winnipeg Jets of the National Hockey League.
